There are many things that I have learned while being in this class. I hope that I can take this information and use it to the best of my abilities so that I can use what I learned to to lessen the issues that come with diversity. I hope that I can be successful in what I do and continuously work with the families and children and never get discouraged along the way. I also plan to make sure that i have a support group and realize that it does not mean I am inadequate if I do not have all the answers. I have goals to work toward possibly having my own service and daycare at one point, so that I am able to work on my own curricula and set an example for diversity and equity policies. Of course, I am fairly new, but I am working toward getting more experience.
I want to take this time to thank all of my peers for their continued efforts to be true and post genuine thoughts and feelings towards the issues and topics throughout this course. I would like to keep contact with some of you, those that are willing of course and take/exchange personal information so that I can start my my contact support group. I definitely would not mind some guidance from people that are not as new to this field as I am, but I know that I do have a passion to help children and families.

Impacts on Early Emotional Development
The region that I chose to discuss was West and Central Africa. I chose this region because there is usually a plethora of unfortunate events that take place, and I believe the children to be the ones that have it the worst. These children do not have the means to the education that children in our country do and I am sure it takes some kind of emotional toll on them. Emotional distress can be detrimental to all development.
Some of those challenges include, they have diseases that they do not have vaccines or treatment for, there are instances of child abuse and violence. Some of the children that run into unfortunate events are due to war. It is so unfortunate but, there instances where children have become the way that war is carried out, by killing, abusing and robbing. One mother had to witness her children brutally murdered in front of her. All of her fortune was taken from her when leaving her business one day. One her daughter became pregnant due to the fact that she was raped. I am suer this can be very detrimental to emotional development of the children. Especially the ones that watch it happen.

Sexualization of Early Childhood
Sexualization is not something that we think of when a young child comes to mind. We think that children need to know the difference between her and that other child over there that does not like she does and not as feminine (not that word choice I am sure). However, children will need to know these differences in order to feel confident about themselves as they grow up to to explore sexualization.

Evaluating Impacts on Professional Practice
There are any-isms that I face being a member of a race that is perceived as the non-dominanat race, and many of my family members grew up in the time where there were always negative things to be said about many things including sexuality, race, economic class, and family structure. Most of the isms that could interfere with the work that I do are related to race. I have not yet experienced them in the early childhood field and I am sure that there will be people to step up and feel like there are things that need attention.

Observing Comunication
I took my daughter to the park to complete an observation for this assignment. We were the first ones at the park, it was me and my daughter two of my friends and their children which totaled four children all together. All of our children were playing and enjoying each other until other children arrived and kind of took over the playground, including skipping the children waiting in line for their turn to go down the slide.
There was not much communication to be observed this day because there were no parents present when the children arrived. Most of everyone lived not even a block away from the park, so the parents did not even accompany them to park. Since there was not any parents present, there was not communication that was being done. Our children played nice and waited their turn and did not bother the children that were being unfair. But, i could definitely see how this can make the children feel as if they are not important because the children were of a different race.
the children that appeared at the park after us were caucasian. Our children felt like they were not important and like the other children were better than they were because of the way they were treated
The parent appeared after about 5-10 minutes and they witnessed the behavior, but did not say anything to their children about not sharing the slide and other fixtures, they did not even acknowledge that there were other children there that their children were trampling over, which showed me that they were not teaching them to have respect for people that were different from them. Eventually, we decided to leave because those children were making us very upset, but the irritation was aimed at the parents, plus it was dinner time.
